Virtualization (VMware) Engineer (1 Year Contract)

The Virtualization (VMware) Engineer role is within the Advisory function based in Singapore. We partner with our member firms across the world to deliver key global compliance management services for our clients. You will responsible for the implementation, administration and management of a variety of reporting and visualisation platforms.

As a VMware SME build and install computer infrastructure, which encompasses hardware, servers, and virtual machines, using a VMware environment such as vSphere. Afterward, configure it for production by creating user accounts, controlling access to networks, and managing storage and security settings.

The role involves:

  • Designing, building, implementing, and deploying data center systems, software applications, and hardware
  • Administering and supporting VMWare Vcenter and ESXi
  • Daily operational support and administration of VMware vSphere, SDDC, NSX, VMware Orchestrator and VMware vRealize Automation infrastructure. Support will include patching, upgrade and incident management
  • Enhancing and maintaining existing automated workflows, and integration between ServiceNow and other automation tools
  • Optionally vRA and vRO and other tools (such as IPAM and AD) using API or programming/scripting language such as PowerCLI, shell script, python, Java script and etc.
  • Performing capacity planning, system performance analysis and optimization, introduce improvements and enhancement to existing SDDC infrastructure
  • Designing, creating and maintaining relevant documents and code control relating to SDDC infrastructure
  • Contributing to the design and implementation of disaster recovery plans for servers
  • Ensure that work ticket queues and document resolutions are completed accurately

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • At least 5 years of practical hand on experience with administration of VMware vSphere infrastructure, Windows and/or Linux Operation System, VMware vRealize Automation, and public cloud infrastructures
  • VMware Certified Professional VCAP and/or Cloud Architect certified will be an added advantage.
  • Experience working on container administration (e.g. Docker) and DevOps technology deploying on VMware infrastructure and Public Cloud (e.g. AWS and Azure) will be an added advantage
  • Experience developing automation tasks using Puppet, Ansible or Chef will be an added advantage
  • Deep knowledge of VMWare Vcenter and ESXi, including deploying new ESXi hosts and perform upgrades and hardening
  • Experience in Microsoft Windows Server (20012 & up) and/or RHEL 7 (& up)
  • Possess strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently
