Job Description

 

You will be part of the Data Office, a new department setup with the vision to empower our people to harness data across the firm to generate actionable insights and drive value. The Data Office is responsible for defining and implementing Singapore firm’s Data Strategy. The data team would work with business functions to embed and enhance data management capabilities across the firm.


As an Associate Director of Data Architecture & Engineering, your responsibilities would include but not limited to:

  • Actively support the operationalisation of KPMG Singapore’s Data Strategy and lead the delivery of data architecture roadmap to enhance the firm’s data maturity
  • Understand KPMG’s overall data estate, IT and business priorities and success measures to design and deliver data architecture capability
  • Design target data architecture for the firm and normalise the data requirements across portfolio of applications. Establish and deliver technologies, tools, approaches and methodologies to enable the management of data
  • Spearhead the development, implementation, and management of modern Data Platform (cloud based DWH/ Data Lake) for KPMG that allows Partners and Staff to leverage existing and 3rd party data sets in the delivery of services; targeting data quality & efficiency
  • Translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions to solve cross-team problems at scale and delight internal customers
  • Enable the Data Platform to scale to support additional use cases. Identify opportunities for product innovation and shape design proposals for taking this forward
  • Develop firm-wide data architecture standards & guidelines, and work with business and IT teams to ensure architecture requirements are captured and addressed by designs that uphold the firm-wide principles and standards 
  • Architect conceptual, logical and physical architecture and data models for enterprise data and analytics solutions using recognised data modelling approaches (e.g. 3NF, dimensional)
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the team in Data Discovery, Ingestion, Transformation and Storage 
  • Be an agent of change and instill data driven culture across different segments of data users through effective communication and collaboration
     

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in similar role, with a proven track record of building scalable and performant data platform
  • Broad experience across a variety of data stores in Microsoft Azure stack (e. g., Azure Data Lake, Azure Blob Storage, Azure SQL DW), messaging systems (e.g. Apache Kafka, Azure Event Hubs) and data processing engines (e. g., Apache Spark, Azure HDInsight).
  • Understanding of REST APIs, Web services, and service-oriented architectures 
  • Overall knowledge of a broad range of technology trends and industry standards in application/solution/platform architecture
  • Experienced in Data Modelling, including Conceptual, Logical and Physical modelling, including different modelling approaches such as including 3NF, Dimensional and Data Vault
  • Programming experience in building high quality applications, data pipelines and analytics solutions ensuring data privacy and regulatory compliance 
  • Good co-ordination and negotiation skills to manage large and diverse set of stakeholders
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to express complex concepts in clear business terminology
