Job Description

Role Overview:

We are seeking a Fintech & Innovation Consultant to join our Financial Services Consulting – Fintech & Ventures team in Singapore. In this role, you will work with banks, regulators, and fintech companies to drive strategic transformation and innovation. You’ll help clients navigate the convergence of finance and technology by developing growth strategies, market entry plans, partnerships, and digital business models that leverage fintech solutions for competitive advantage. This position requires a blend of strategic thinking and practical execution: as a consultant, you will conduct analyses and support project delivery, while as a Manager you will lead projects and guide teams to deliver results and manage client relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Advisory for Fintech Initiatives: Lead and support consulting engagements focused on fintech strategy, digital transformation, and innovation in financial services. Advise clients on developing and executing strategies for fintech-driven growth, new digital product launches, and market entry or expansion, including assessing market opportunities, competitive positioning, and regulatory implications

  • Business Model & Partnership Development: Work closely with client executives to design and refine business models and value propositions for financial products and services. This may involve evaluating partnership strategies between banks and fintechs, digital platform strategies, or ecosystem development (e.g. API/open banking partnerships, corporate venture investments in fintech, creating multi-sided platforms). Help clients identify opportunities for revenue growth, improved customer engagement and operational efficiency through fintech solutions

  • Market and Trend Analysis: Keep up to date with fintech and broader financial services innovation industry trends (such as digital banking, payments innovation, AI, digital assets, e-commerce, Insurtech, RegTech etc.) and provide thought leadership on how these trends impact clients’ businesses and strategy. Conduct market research and fintech landscape analysis to inform client strategy engagements, including competitor benchmarking and regulatory trend analysis

  • Solution Design & Implementation: Translate strategic recommendations into actionable plans. For example, develop roadmaps for fintech implementation (covering operating model changes, technology enablement, and organizational implications). For Manager-level hires, responsibilities include project managing large-scale strategy engagements – structuring work plans, facilitating client workshops, coordinating cross-functional KPMG and client teams, and ensuring timely, high-quality deliverables. Consultants will contribute by performing critical analysis (financial model, process mapping, etc.), drafting client reports, and working closely with managers to execute project tasks

  • Client & Team Engagement: Collaborate with KPMG partners and senior leaders in proposals and business development for fintech or innovation related opportunities. Build strong client relationships by understanding client needs in the fintech/innovation domain and delivering insightful, value-added solutions. Support internal practice development by developing points-of-view and thought leadership on fintech and digital strategy topics to share with clients and the broader market

Required Experience & Skills:

  • Financial Services & Technology Background: 5 - 8+ years of relevant experience in financial services or consulting environments, preferably with significant exposure to fintech, digital banking, e-commerce or innovation strategy roles. A track record of delivering strategic projects in areas like digital banking, fintech startups, platforms, payment innovations, or tech-driven business transformation is essential

  • Consulting & Analytical Skills: Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities – able to break down complex business issues, perform structured analysis, and synthesize insights into clear recommendations. Prior consulting experience (e.g. in a strategy or management consulting role) or internal corporate strategy experience in FS/fintech is an asset, demonstrating capability in managing projects and delivering client value

  • Fintech Domain Knowledge: Good understanding of fintech business models and emerging financial technologies. Familiarity with how fintech innovations (digital payments, blockchain, AI in finance, digital lending, etc.) are reshaping banking and financial services. Knowledge of key success factors for fintech adoption (e.g. user experience, agility, platform models) and challenges (e.g. regulatory compliance, scaling) will be valuable

  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) to articulate strategies and technical concepts effectively to both clients and technical teams. Strong stakeholder management capabilities – able to work collaboratively with diverse client and internal teams and build trust-based relationships. Skilled in creating polished presentations and reports for senior audiences

  • Adaptability & Drive: Demonstrated adaptability and eagerness to learn in a fast-evolving environment. Passion for fintech and innovation, with a self-motivated attitude to stay on top of industry developments and continuously develop expertise

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (required). MBA or other relevant postgraduate qualification is highly desirable – especially with specialization in strategy, finance, or innovation

  • Professional Certifications: Additional credentials such as Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Project Management Professional (PMP), or certifications in digital transformation/innovation are a plus

  • Leadership Experience: For Manager-level candidates, prior experience in leading project teams or managing consulting engagements is advantageous, demonstrating effective project leadership and team management
