We are seeking an experienced KDB+ Developer / Data Platform Engineer to join a growing Capital Markets technology team supporting electronic FX trading platforms.

The successful candidate will work closely with traders, quantitative analysts and technology teams to support the development and enhancement of real-time market data platforms, low-latency trading solutions and analytical capabilities within the eFX business.

This is a hands-on development role with strong exposure to market data engineering, KDB+/q development, Python integration and quantitative analytics. The role is not focused on application support and is not expected to own the overall platform architecture, but rather contribute to the evolution, optimisation and delivery of key trading and analytics capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and enhance KDB+/q solutions supporting electronic FX trading activities
  • Build and maintain market data ingestion, storage and analytics solutions
  • Develop and optimise real-time and historical data-processing pipelines
  • Support quantitative analysts by implementing analytics, calculations and reporting requirements
  • Work with traders, quants and technology stakeholders to understand business requirements and convert them into technical solutions
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of low-latency market data platforms
  • Design and develop scalable data models and data structures within KDB+
  • Support data quality, performance optimisation and operational stability initiatives
  • Build integrations between KDB+, Python and surrounding technology platforms
  • Participate in platform enhancements, proof-of-concepts and technical design discussions
  • Assist with troubleshooting, root-cause analysis and resolution of data and platform-related issues

Required Experience:

  • 5+ years experience developing solutions using KDB+ and q
  • Experience within Capital Markets environments
  • Experience working with real-time market data, time-series databases, large-scale data platforms, and trading or risk analytics systems
  • Strong understanding of KDB+ concepts, including q language, qSQL, keyed tables, partitioned tables, dictionaries and lists, attributes, and performance optimisation
  • Experience working in Linux-based development environments
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work directly with business users and technology stakeholders

Preferred Experience:

  • Electronic FX (eFX) experience
  • Exposure to FX Spot, FX Forwards, FX Options or electronic trading platforms
  • Experience supporting quantitative teams and implementing quantitative analytics requirements
  • Knowledge of market data platforms and low-latency systems
  • Experience with RDB/HDB architectures, feed handlers, IPC and tick-data platforms
  • Python development experience
  • Experience working in agile delivery environments
