Job Description

KPMG’s forensic team has a stellar reputation for delivering high quality work in a time of crisis. Because of this, we are engaged to advise in complex situations, which will be a fantastic learning opportunity for you.

 

All our professionals interact with our clients and learn about some of their business specifics. You will gain experience across many industries and grow to become a subject matter expert in your own right.

 

This role involves:

Day to day, you will contribute to digital forensic investigations either independently or as part of a project team, under the supervision of experienced managers. Responsibilities include guiding junior staff, conducting forensic imaging, analysing digital artifacts, log files, and malware, preparing analytical summaries, engaging with clients, and producing formal reports. 

 

What you will do?

  • Conducting interviews internally and externally, which may include, but not limited to, understanding IT environments to identify sources of digital evidence
  • Collaborate within multidisciplinary project teams
  • Forensic imaging of storage media from computers, servers, mobile devices as well as data stored on cloud.
  • Host forensic analysis of file system for Windows, Macintosh and Linux.
  • Cryptocurrency investigations.
  • Identify, collect, preserve, process and manage electronic data for electronic discovery (e-discovery) engagements.
  • Perform email and document review to identify evidences.

 

Apart from the above, the Assistant Manager will be involved in:

  • Lead team members in the research and development of latest form of digital evidence and forensic tools and procedures.
  • Report writing, presentation and providing trainings.

Requirements:

 

Technical skills

  • Minimum of 3 to 4 years of digital forensic investigations experience in using forensic software to identify, collect, preserve and analyse electronic data from laptops, desktops, servers, cloud, backup tapes and mobile devices.
  • Proficient in evidence handling, chain-of-custody, acquisition techniques, analysis of digital evidence, forensic lab practices and procedures.
  • Extensive understanding of Microsoft Windows, Macintosh and other Operating Systems (OS). You should be able to understand and translate the artefacts extracted from the OS into investigation outcomes supported by detailed documentation.
  • Ability to code and knowledge in database management is preferred.
  • Any certifications in the field of cloud technologies, computer forensics and/or e-discovery will be an advantage.

 

 

Interpersonal skills

 

  • Presentation skills. You should be comfortable presenting your findings to your colleagues and clients in an interactive manner.  KPMG will provide learning opportunities to improve on your presentation skills. 
  • Reading and writing proficiently in English. Communication and report writing are key areas in this working environment to allow success and impact in delivering outcomes to our project teams and clients.
  • Desire to learn and grow. Technology is always evolving, and Digital forensics and incident response procedures adapt to these changes. While you are expected to learn through research and experience, KPMG will provide opportunities to support your desire to learn and grow.
