Job Description

 

You will be part of the Data Office, a new department setup with the vision to empower our people to harness data across the firm to generate actionable insights and drive value. The Data Office is responsible for defining and implementing Singapore firm’s Data Strategy. The data team would work with business functions to embed and enhance data management capabilities across the firm.


As a Data Governance lead, your responsibilities would include but not limited to:

  • Actively support the operationalisation of KPMG Singapore Data Strategy and lead the delivery of a data governance roadmap to enhance the firm’s data maturity
  • Lead the development, implementation, and management of firm-wide data governance framework 
  • Develop and promote data management policies, standards/guidelines & processes ensuring compliance with KPMG Global policies, relevant local & Global laws, and regulations (e.g. PDPA, GDPR etc.)
  • Develop and enable controls across the end-to-end data lifecycle by incorporating good practices on data governance, data quality and data protection 
  • Facilitate the Data Governance Working group to improve the understanding across the firm on the data concepts and ensure alignment of all functions with overall data strategy
  • Run data assurance activities to monitor compliance to policies & procedures. Partner with Data Protection and IT Security group to ensure compliance with data privacy, security and regulatory requirements
  • Lead data governance technology exploration, innovation and implementation. Drive the development of data catalog for KPMG Singapore. Promote the tool to be used as a central metadata repository
  • Ensure the key governance roles (Data Owners/ Data Stewards etc.) are identified across data domains, and supported in executing their responsibilities, such as designing and implementing effective data quality controls or accurately documenting data meaning and usage context
  • Promote data literacy and develop training, awareness and adoption of Data Governance discipline across all functions
  • Be an agent of change and instill data driven culture across different segments of data users through effective communication and collaboration 
     

  • 6 or more years of Enterprise Data Management experience, minimum of 4 years in a Data Governance Analyst or Lead role in a formal Data Governance program
  • Experience in developing Data Governance operating models from scratch
  • Experience working with business / technical development team / data stewards to clearly document Data Governance and metadata requirements.
  • Well versed with of industry leading data quality, metadata, and data protection management practices
  • Strong data and technological knowledge, covering topics such data governance, data classification and data domain
  • Solid SQL skills and working experience with data, data warehousing and/or analytics
  • Good co-ordination and negotiation skills to manage large and diverse set of stakeholders
  • Working knowledge about tools used in data quality and metadata management. Examples include Collibra, Informatica, Alation amongst others
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to express complex concepts in clear business terminology
