Job Description

KPMG Singapore is establishing a dedicated China Corridor team within our Tax practice to strengthen support for Chinese clients investing, operating, or expanding in Singapore and the region. We are looking for a Tax Manager/ Assistant Manager who is passionate about cross‑border tax advisory and enjoys working closely with clients to understand their business challenges and deliver practical, high‑quality solutions.

This role works directly with the China Desk Partner and plays a key part in leading engagements, building client relationships, and driving growth initiatives for the practice. In addition, this role will contribute to China corridor–wide market coordination, service offering standardisation, and delivery governance across tax service lines.

Key Responsibilities

China Desk Development & Client Engagement

  • Support the Partner in building and expanding the China Desk’s market presence.
  • Participate in business development activities, proposals, and pitches targeting Chinese clients.
  • Develop strong working relationships with stakeholders from China, including clients, government agencies, and KPMG China firms.
  • Assist in preparing Chinese‑language materials (where required) for client communication or marketing collateral.
  • Support delivery readiness and engagement conversion by coordinating internal teams, clarifying scope, resourcing, and timelines for China-related pursuits and engagements.
  • Proactively identify and manage engagement risks in line with KPMG risk management and quality standards.

 

Leadership, Coaching & Quality Management

  • Lead project teams, ensuring high-quality deliverables and timely execution of engagements.
  • Coach and mentor junior team members to develop technical and professional capabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with KPMG risk management policies and quality standards in all engagements.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field; professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, CA, CTA) is an advantage.
  • Minimum 5–7 years of relevant Singapore tax experience, ideally within Big 4 or reputable professional services firms.
  • Strong understanding of Singapore tax regulations and experience in cross‑border advisory work.
  • Familiarity with China’s tax or regulatory environment is a strong plus.
  • Fluent in Mandarin and English (written and spoken) to liaise with Chinese-speaking clients and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, client management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Self‑driven, collaborative, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Strong organisational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders across service lines and translate pursuits into executable engagements.
  • Self-driven, structured, and comfortable operating in a platform-building and growth-oriented role.
