Job Description
As the Japanese office of KPMG Global Strategy Group, you will support clients across the M&A lifecycle, with a particular focus on Business Due Diligence, Value Creation and strategic advisory engagements. You will work with corporate and private equity clients to assess market opportunities, evaluate growth strategies, identify commercial risks and support value creation initiatives before, during and after transactions.
The role will also involve supporting cross-border projects and engagements requiring Japanese language capabilities, while working closely with KPMG teams across multiple geographies and industries.
The Role
- You will lead Business Due Diligence and value creation engagements for private equity funds and corporate clients, covering commercial, operational and strategic aspects of investment opportunities throughout the deal lifecycle.
- You will take ownership of the end-to-end delivery of workstreams and projects, working closely with Partners and Directors to define key issues, develop hypotheses and drive actionable insights for clients.
- You will design and execute analytical frameworks, leveraging internal company data, market intelligence and commercial assessments to evaluate business performance and support investment decisions.
- You will conduct market research, management interviews, expert consultations and customer analyses to develop a comprehensive understanding of target businesses and their value creation potential.
- You will support the development and review of business plans, operating models and value creation strategies, identifying opportunities to drive revenue growth, operational improvements and sustainable value creation.
- You will prepare and deliver high-quality client presentations, reports and management materials, while maintaining regular communication with senior client stakeholders throughout the engagement.
- You will collaborate closely with colleagues across Deal Advisory, Strategy and other transaction-related teams, both locally and globally, to deliver integrated solutions for clients.
- You will support cross-border engagements involving Japanese and non-Japanese stakeholders, leveraging Japanese language capabilities where required to facilitate discussions, analyses and project delivery.
- You will be responsible for guiding and coaching junior team members, supporting their development through on-the-job mentoring and project delivery.
- You will contribute to business development activities, including proposal support, thought leadership initiatives, client presentations and relationship-building activities.

Job Requirements
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in Consulting (Deal Advisory, Management Consulting or Restructuring) or in-house corporate strategy, M&A, commercial or operational roles, including at least 3-5 years of experience in Value Creation, Performance Improvement or transaction-related projects.
- Exposure to M&A, Private Equity or Due Diligence processes.
- Proficient in English (spoken and written) for effective business communication.
- Proficient in Japanese (spoken and written) to communicate with Japanese-speaking clients, stakeholders, or business counterparts where required.
- Good presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex ideas and solutions.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills including the ability to interpret data and generate insights; financial modelling skills is desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with senior management teams at client organisations.
- Willing to travel in support of business requirements, as needed.
